Vancouver Island Social Innovation Zone (VISIZ) was a research, mapping, planning and innovation initiative to strengthen the local social enterprise eco-system.

Scale Collaborative provided Project Management support to ‘The Zone’. The Zone was funded by RECODE with a goal of integrating social innovation into the post-secondary school system. Royal Roads, Camosun and UVic partnered to help map the current social innovation system, identify gaps and agree upon a strategic plan to advance social innovation on Vancouver Island. Other partners included Vancity Credit Union, Community Social Planning Council, seCatalyst network, Victoria Native Friendship Centre and the BC Government- Social Innovation department. Scale ensured management of project deliverables, contracting and hiring staff, budget management, facilitation and events planning.

The result of this initiative was a comprehensive mapping of the current social innovation landscape on Vancouver Island, community engagement and resulting Strategic Plan.
